No doubt the unbelievable gaffe by the Mitt Romney campaign, comparing the primary campaign to an Etch-A-Sketch --- you can erase it and start over at any time --- will continue to haunt him. It could be Mike Dukakis in a tank all over again, or Howard Dean’s dorky primal scream.
Silver lining for Mitt: I bet Etch-A Sketch gets a nice little boost.
Reminds me of the time I had discovered Mike Barnicle had plagiarized George Carlin. After the brouhaha was all said and done, Carlin sent me a copy of “Brain Droppings,” signing it and writing, “Thanks, Mark.”
I was initially puzzled. Then it dawned on me --- all the media coverage had caused book sales to skyrocket.
